THE IMPOSSIBLE SXSW

The Impossible Machine visited Coronado studio from Austin, Texas and witnessed some master printers at work.
For instance: Andy MacDougall from Canada, local printer Jonathan Rebolloso and the amazing Portland artist Gary Houston aka Voodoo Catbox.

We also had a chat with the people from Speedball Inks, the biggest screen printing supplies company in the US, who just developed a new non-chalky black! We can't wait to try 'em!

ABOUT US

The Impossible Machine is the studio name under which Dutch designers & illustrators Kunny van der Ploeg & Mirjam Dijkema collaborate. The Impossible Machine is their platform for the creation and promotion of the screen printed gig poster. Both of the designers started creating music posters for the Vera Club (for the International Underground) in their hometown Groningen, and with a growing reputation in the gig poster scene they nowadays collaborate with venues and bands world wide.

With the Impossible Machine the two designers have been representing the Dutch / European poster scene in every possible way for the past couple of years. They organized and curated a big retrospective exhibition on Vera Posters in Seattle in 2011, and gave lectures and workshops in Portland, Groningen, Rotterdam & Seattle on various occasions. Besides that they joined every major poster exhibition in Europe in the last few years, from Berlin, to Rome, to Chicago to Leeds to Barcelona and back in Groningen. The Impossible Machine currently has studios Groningen and Berlin.
